Niamh used to eat what she liked when she liked and did little exercise. Not surprisingly, the weight piled on and when she got engaged, she had a real motivation to shape up. Therese didn’t realise her weight was gradually creeping up until her clothes no longer fitted. “When the scales hit 12 stone 5 lbs, I knew it was time to take action. I wanted to look and feel better, but my greatest concern was for my health,” she says.

A voucher for a weight loss programme might not be everybody’s idea of a tactful present, but when Michael received a voucher for Motivation Weight Management one festive season, it really was a gift for life, not just for Christmas!

Rob set an Irish record for the largest non-surgical weight loss when he shed 23 stone with Motivation, an inspiring feat which prompted him to go on to run his own clinics. A constant dieter for most of his adult life, Rob had repeatedly gained and lost extreme amounts of weight. “I would lose 8 stone and put on 10 stone,” he says.

A radio interview with Dr. Larocque inspired him to join Motivation because of its emphasis not on what people eat, but why they eat. At his first consultation in January 2010 he weighed over 37 stone. Between them, Frank and his wife Sandra lost an amazing 23 stone after they joined Motivation and they have both successfully maintained their preferred weight for over three years.

“My life before joining Motivation was at the point were everything seemed to be getting harder. I was tired and inclined to come home and sit in front of the television, and that was about it. If I had a good week or a bad week, she always got to the root of what happened. I didn’t believe I could lose the amount of weight I did. Life started to change completely. I got into walking and cycling, which I haven’t done for 30 years. I feel now there isn’t anything I can’t do!

Lost 10 stone

Sandra recalls that she and her husband Frank had both been diagnosed with diabetes, but since losing their excess weight they’ve come off all medication and they now enjoy a much better quality of life.
