We can look at loneliness in two ways, some people see time alone as a treat, to put their feet up and order a take away, have a glass of wine or eat chocolate. Other people feel lonely and unhappy and turn to food to compensate or to fill a gap in their lives. Both would be considered as an emotional response to food rather than a physical response.
